Hello WordPress!

So, you think you want to host your own WordPress blog. The first question to answer should be; what are you going to write about? You may have a favorite hobby, a strong opinions about what to do for fun or a fabulous set of recipes. These are all wonderful topics to share with the world at large.

Myself, I couldn’t decide. I am a bit boring at times. I have a few tips on eating at work on the cheap; I have some old cameras; I have stories about the early days of the digital world – snooze!

So here I find myself with a new domain, a hosting account and a WordPress blog, but nothing to share. I signed up for a hosting account to provide a better platform for the sites of a few friends and family, and decided that maybe I should get a domain of my own. I mean, since I already have my own server I might as well have my own website, right?

So, what should I write about? And why build another WordPress site? I’m a web developer by day, so I could have built any type of site on my brand new server. But why give myself a second job building and maintaining a complex site at home when I just built this as a hobby of sorts; nothing sets up easier than WordPress. Despite the fact that I do this everyday day at work, I actually found this process to be a fun experience, and I think everyone should do it. And to be honest, I truly do love WordPress; with the right recipe it can be a powerfully robust and secure publishing platform.

And there was my answer.
